These training sessions are designed to prepare the team for an exciting programme of events this year, including WSL Pro Junior events, domestic competitions, the ESF European Junior Championships and the ISA World Junior Championships. The ultimate aim is to help team members qualify for surfing’s debut at the Youth Olympics in Senegal next year.

The weekend’s training was split over two days, with one group attending Saturday and another on Sunday. Covid safety measures were in place throughout the weekend.
Each training day kicked off with a warm-up and visualisation session, to get the groms ready and focused for the sessions in the water. After the pre-surf briefing, the waves started at 10am, with the Juniors taking on the Wave’s Advanced setting. This was followed by a debriefing and video analysis session, designed to help to identify areas for improvement.

After the debrief and lunch it was back in the water again, the young surfers switching sides for another go at the Advanced setting. Again, this was followed by some post-surf stretching and another video analysis session.
The day was finished off back in the water, this time with the youngsters testing themselves on the Wave’s Expert setting!
