We’re proud to announce that we’re extending our support for Surfers Against Sewage, with an increased donation of £10,000 to help fund their vital work campaigning to protect oceans, beaches, waterways and wildlife.
Surfers Against Sewage is widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading marine conservation charities. They deal with a wide spectrum of conservation issues from marine litter to climate change. Not just surfers – not just sewage.
Sick of seeing sewage in our seas and beaches, and wanting to safely pursue watersports off the UK coastline, the charity was set up by its founders in 1990 in pursuit of cleaner waters and a healthier coastal environment.
Dedicated to raising awareness of the polluted waters in the UK, the high profile eco-activists highlighted the need for faster sewerage infrastructure investment. Their successful campaigning resulted in a huge investment in the UK’s sewerage infrastructure, with 96.9% of our beaches today now meeting the minimum bathing water standards - a massive improvement from the 27% three decades ago!
For over 30 years they have been at the forefront of campaigns to improve water quality and reduce plastic pollution around the coast of the UK and beyond. Recently their successful #EndSewagePollution, Plastic Free Communities, Generation Sea and Million Mile Clean campaigns have captured the imagination of the public, helping people to make changes that have positive impacts on the environment.
As part of our Warmth Project, we support charities and non-profit organisations that promote wellbeing through outdoor activity and help protect the environment.
Here at dryrobe®, we share Surfers Against Sewage’s values who are committed to doing everything they can to protect the environment, helping to create a sustainable future.
Emma Cowley, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Surfers Against Sewage said:
“We’re so pleased to have the support from dryrobe® with a donation of £10,000 as part of their Warmth Project. This donation will be crucial for our Water Quality work such as our mission to #EndSewagePollution, as well as the fight against plastic pollution with our Million Mile Clean.”
Gideon Bright, dryrobe® Founder and CEO added:
“We’re proud to be furthering our support for Surfers Against Sewage. dryrobe® is based on the North Devon coast, everyone who works here has a connection to the sea and knows how important it is to protect our stunning beaches and coastline. We look forward to working more closely with Surfers Against Sewage, helping to support their incredible campaigns.”
