We're Opting Out again.
We're proud to announce that we will be shutting the office on Friday 24th (Black Friday) and giving our staff a paid day off to spend time outside. We received a lot of positive feedback last year - when, apparently, we became the first company in the UK to do this.
The website will still be operational but we don't wish to be a part of the sales, which simply don't suit our business or the way we work. They don't fit in with what we are about or reinforce any ideal we aspire to promote.
dryrobe has always been about making the World's best change robes and selling them at the best prices we can with the best customer service we can, all day, every day. It is that simple.
We certainly aren't the only ones taking this stance - giant US based retailer REI will be closing it's 151 stores for the third year in a row as well as launching a new "experiential search engine" at REI.com/optoutside. Designed to capture the experiences of the outdoor community and provide inspiration - the search engine features images pulled entirely from #OptOutside user-generated content on Instagram.
We value our relationships with our customers and we like to keep things simple. We would like to be part of a movement towards making Black Friday less about consumerism and excess, and more about simplicity and appreciation of the great outdoors.
We would like to think others might understand and even join in.
Time to leave you with the same quote from last year - as it very much still applies.
"It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, it's what we do consistently." - Tony Robbins
