We are proud to announce that we are sponsoring Surfers Against Sewage’s Million Mile Clean campaign this year through the dryrobe® Warmth Project.
Launched by Surfers Against Sewage in April 2021 the Million Mile Clean is the most ambitious UK beach clean campaign ever undertaken. The idea is to mobilise 100,000 volunteers every year to clean 10 miles of green and blue space, making the UK one million miles cleaner.
Last year’s campaign was a huge success, with 4216 beach, river, street and mountain cleans taking place, with 142,428 volunteers collecting 398,179 kilos of rubbish and covering over 1.1million miles, making it Europe’s biggest beach clean!
The best part is anyone can get involved! You can clean any location, any time, just track your distance, submit your results and use the hashtag #MillionMileClean when posting on social media. You can either run a clean and get your whole community involved, join a clean in your local area, or do a mini beach clean in your own time. All of your cleaning action counts towards the goal.
A great way to know exactly how far you’ve cleaned is to track yourself using Strava. Just download the app for free and join the Surfers Against Sewage: Million Mile clean group to track your miles.
The Million Mile Clean is tied into the UN Decade for Ocean Science and will run every year until 2030, mobilising a million volunteers to clean 10 million miles of UK environment while also collecting vital data to hold businesses and governments to account.
Everyone here at dryrobe® is excited to be involved in this incredible campaign. Being so close to the sea here in North Devon, we know how important protecting our coastline and green spaces is, and we regularly organise and take part in beach cleans.
