That’s nearly it for 2022! After a couple of tough years for everyone, the world settled into some kind of normality this year, as travel opened up and major events got going again. Here at dryrobe®, we’re lucky to collaborate with some amazing people and partners. Their work motivates and inspires us on a daily basis. It was really hard to choose, but here are just a few of the things that made 2022 epic for us…
Becoming a Certified B Corp™
In September we took a huge step on our sustainability journey by becoming a certified B Corporation! Being a Certified B Corp™ means that our business practices are recognised for promoting positive environmental and social change.
Achieving B Corp™ status is a huge milestone on our sustainability journey. However, we are not done yet and as a business, we have a responsibility to continue to help transform the economy to benefit everyone, as well as the planet. Find out more about B Corp. Bárbara Hernández Huerta breaking records across the world
Ice swimmer and dryrobe® Ambassador Bárbara Hernández Huerta (AKA The Ice Mermaid) spent her 2022 swimming some incredible locations and smashing records along the way. Amongst her many achievements this year Bárbara swam the North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland, became the first Latin American to complete the Four Islands marathon swim around San Francisco, was crowned the first person in the world to swim 3 nautical miles (5.5 km) between the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Horn, and was Inducted into the Ice Swimming Hall of Fame!
In 2023, Bárbara is planning a swim in Antarctica to break a Guinness World Record. Read our interview with Bárbara about her North Channel Swim. The dryrobe® Warmth Project grows
Through the dryrobe® Warmth Project, we’re stoked to support some incredible charities and non-profit organisations across the world.
This year we’ve sponsored environmental campaigns that are close to our heart, including Surfers Against Sewage’s Million Mile Clean, the 2 Minute Foundation’s Beach School and Ghost Fishing UK’s important work clearing the ocean.
We’ve continued to support Surfers Not Street Children's vital work with at-risk youngsters in South Africa and Mozambique. In London, our funding for the Wave Project helps employ a Project Coordinator, enabling vulnerable young people from inner cities to experience the benefit of surf therapy. We also helped some incredible surf therapy charities in the US, including A Walk On Water, MeWater Foundation and Operation Surf.

Keeping Team GB warm at Beijing 2022
We were thrilled to supply Team GB athletes with custom-branded dryrobe® Advance changing robes, at our first-ever Winter Olympics!
Having previously supplied Team GB with dryrobe® Advance at the Summer Games in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, we jumped at the opportunity to kit out Britain’s elite winter sports athletes with dryrobe® gear, helping to keep their core temperature up when they were getting ready to compete. With temperatures dropping down to -24°C these were one of the coldest ever Winter Games, and the dryrobes soon became an essential piece of equipment! Find out more about this epic collaboration. Partnering with the RNLI
This year we were proud to launch a new partnership with the RNLI, bringing together our shared love of the sea. For nearly 200 years the RNLI has been dedicated to saving lives at sea. Their 24/7 volunteer lifeboat service and seasonal lifeguard patrols rescue those in trouble in the water and provide a reassuring presence along our coasts.
This partnership will see dryrobe® annually donate £100,000 to support the RNLI’s vital work. For every adult and kids dryrobe® Advance, Towel dryrobe® and dryrobe® Dog products sold on dryrobe.com, £1 will go to the RNLI. The partnership will also see some exciting collaborations and new products. Read more here.
Tom Daley’s Hell of a Homecoming
Earlier this year diving superstar Tom Daley took on the challenge of his life for Red Nose Day - rowing, cycling, swimming and running his way from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London to his hometown of Plymouth for one hell of a homecoming! We were thrilled to supply Tom with a custom Red Nose Day dryrobe® Advance to keep in warm on this epic challenge.
We caught up with his coach, dryrobe® Ambassador Keri-anne Payne, to find out how he trained for the brutal cold water swim section of the event. Huge success for Team England Juniors
This is the third year in a row that we’ve been the headline sponsors of the Team England Junior Squad, supporting the development of the country’s best young surfers.
This year not only saw the team come an impressive 15th place at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in El Salvador, but they put in a phenomenal performance at the Eurosurf Junior Championships. In their best-ever result, the team came 4th overall with dryrobe® Ambassador Lukas Skinner winning the U16 Boys’ title, Alys Barton taking U18 Girls’ shortboard division title and Arthur Randle bringing home the U18 Boys' longboard title. The future looks bright for English surfing!

The world’s most brutal downhill mountain bike race returned to North Wales and the action truly lived up to its hard-by-name, hard-by-nature reputation. This year saw a sold-out crowd after covid meant last year’s race was a closed event. The return of fans made the atmosphere something else, with cowbells, horns and cheers following the riders all the way down to the course. At dryrobe® we were stoked to be asked to produce a Limited Edition Red Bull Hardline dryrobe® Advance again, to keep the riders warm and dry between runs. Read our report from the event. Teaming up with ÖTILLÖ
This year we teamed up with our friends at ÖTILLÖ Swimrun again, becoming an official international supplier to their epic events. The ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series takes in some of the most stunning locations including the world the iconic Isles of Scilly set off the Cornish coast, where dryrobe® was first conceived.
We were fortunate enough to support the Swimrun World Championships this year, read our report from this stunning event that sees competitors from around the globe race 75km across land and sea. The dryrobe® community
The thing we enjoyed most this year (and every year!), is being inspired every single day by all the exciting outdoor adventures our followers share with us. Whether it’s taking on a triathlon for the first time, finding a new break to surf, or just going for a swim with your mates - we love seeing what you get up to with your dryrobe®.
