Well that was one incredible weekend. Action all over the place - with the dryrobe team getting involved with as much as possible.
For this week's round up we thought we'd focus on three of the big events that took place - there was definitely more going on so don't think we've forgotten it - be sure to share your story with us on social!
First up the big one - the OCR World Championships. Taking place at the Blue Mountain Resort in Canada, the annual event is a true highlight of the Obstacle Course racing calendar, with athletes from 67 nations competing this year. We were there to witness 3 days of incredible action - the competition is at such an amazing standard, it was great to catch up with old friends and watch the athletes give it their all out on the course.
The pro races were unbelievable to watch this weekend, some awesome performances went down on a very tough course - one man who put seriously put on a show was dryrobe ambassador Jonathan Albon. After winning the 15K classic course race for the last 3 years in a row, he was a firm favourite to take the title again in 2017. True to form, Jon blew the competition away, taking first place with a comfortable lead. To top off his weekend, Jon also claimed the win in the 3K race, beating good friend and 2016 champ Ryan Atkins along the way.
In the Womens Pro division, there were some familiar faces on the podium - with the top 3 dominated by the same 3 women in both the 3K and 15K race. On Friday it was Nicole Mericle claiming the win, beating 2016 champion Lyndsay Webster into 2nd, with Karin Karlsson in 3rd. Saturday's 15K classic course saw a switch in the placings - with Lyndsay storming to victory, with Nicole 2nd and Karin 3rd - an incredible weekend of racing!
The World Championships is one of our favourite events of the OCR calendar - getting to see so many athletes from across the globe meeting and racing in one place is just awesome. Serious #dryrobeterritory in Canada this year - serious rain and wind meant that dryrobes were a total necessity. Bring on 2018!
Back home in the UK, the team from the dryrobe office were getting stuck into their own obstacle course - the 10K Mission Unbreakable. The team were running to raise money for the North Devon Hospice - an amazing charity who provide care for people suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
The team put in amazing effort over the course - for most it was their first ever challenge like this and they all conquered the course in style.
Massive thank you to North Devon Hospice for holding such an amazing event and also to the 24 Commando Royal Engineers who encouraged the team round the course!
Another huge event taking place this weekend was the annual BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sports) Surf Championships, held at Fistral beach in Newquay. A classic event that is a definite highlight in the BUCS calendar, teams from across the country battled it out in pumping surf to contest the title.
Huge congratulations to our partners - Falmouth University - for claiming the overall title for the second year in a row! The team put on an incredible performance throughout the weekend - with Matt Chapman taking the win in the Mens division to top it all off.
