We're opting out! (again)

"We're proud to announce that we will be shutting the office on Friday 29th November 2019 (Black Friday) and giving our staff a paid day off to spend time outside. It makes as much sense for us now, as it did when we became the first company in the UK to do this in 2015.

We value our relationships with our customers and we like to keep things simple. We would like to be part of a movement towards making Black Friday less about consumerism and excess, and more about simplicity and an appreciation of the great outdoors.

The website will still be operational but we don't wish to be a part of the Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales, which simply don't suit our business or the way we work. They don't fit in with what we are about or reinforce any ideal we aspire to promote.

dryrobe has always been about making the world's best change robes and selling them at the best prices we can with the best quality and service, all day, every day. It is that simple.

We certainly aren't the only ones taking this stance - The Opt Outside movement was started by huge Seattle based retailer REI, who closed all of their 149 stores and paid all 12,287 employees to take the day off to spend it outside. It makes as much sense for us now as it did when we became the first company in the UK to #OptOutside.

We would like to think this resonates with others who will understand and might even join in."
