Sunshine, hills and swims at Man Vs Moor

The summer of 2018 is going down in history in the UK, as we enjoy the longest spell of hot weather since the 70s - it's been pretty epic, with wall to wall sunshine meaning plenty of time outside. There's been some amazing events happening so far this summer - this weekend we headed up to Exmoor to take on one that's billed as one of the most challenging events on the moor - it certainly didn't disappoint.

Man vs Moor is one part trail run, one part obstacle course race, one part battle against the moor itself! Starting at the Pinkery Centre, the course takes you on a 10km loop through some of the most remote and stunning parts of the Exmoor National Park.

A good mix of natural obstacles, challenging descents and brutal climbs (we clocked it as 520m of ascent) meant that the event definitely lived up to it's reputation as a solid challenge - with the blazing sunshine added into the mix as an extra obstacle for all the runners out on the course.

Our favourite part of the course came towards the end of the route - after battling through chest deep sections of thick grass and climbing countless hills (with one that felt almost vertical) we were greeted by the welcome sight of Pinkery Pond. A 75 metre swim crossing was the perfect way to cool off before one final section of trail to take us back into the Pinkery Centre and across the finish line.

Congratulations to everyone who took on Man vs Moor this weekend - you earned those medals. Congrats to Adam Skinner for claiming first place, Eleanor Kaye finishing first female and dryrobe's own Pete even squeaked into the top 10 with an 8th place finish!
